LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

We live in an era of accelerated technological development. 2023 has been the year in which artificial intelligence has exploded, and this has opened doors to possibilities that once seemed to belong to the realm of science fiction. We are facing significant challenges and unprecedented opportunities. At the UPC, we are tackling these challenges with responsibility and determination, conscious of the fact that technology not only makes our lives easier but is also a strategic driver of economic and social progress. We want to take on an active role in transforming our production model and contribute to the development of our society. Our vocation is to work closely with companies and organisations to promote technological solutions that respond to society's current and future needs.

In this framework, the CIT-UPC facilitates technology transfer from our university to businesses. This commitment reinforces its role as a bridge between academia and industry that is indispensable for fostering innovation as a base for growth.

We are firmly committed to a more sustainable model, based on knowledge, with responsibility and orientation towards the future. We have a highly competitive research system and excellent science that is capable of generating a considerable economic and social impact.

Here, I wish to highlight and express my gratitude for the work done by our research groups. They are a cornerstone of our institution. I also wish to thank all the businesses and institutions that collaborate with the UPC for the trust placed in us and the drive to fulfil this mission. Together we will continue to generate expert knowledge and applied technology to innovate and transform the future.
